With Triple Eight Race Engineering making the bold switch to Ford for the 2026 Repco Supercars Championship and taking on the crucial role as Ford’s homologation team, all eyes were firmly fixed on the powerhouse squad heading into the new season. After becoming the first driver in 40 years to stand on the podium at every event during a single season and capping off that remarkable campaign with the 2024 championship crown, it came as little surprise that Will Brown quickly adapted to the newly developed Ford Mustang.
Now carrying the iconic #888, inherited from Triple Eight legend Craig Lowndes, the Queensland larrikin wasted no time making his mark. Brown delivered a standout performance at the 2026 Melbourne SuperSprint, storming to pole position for Race 7, finishing in the top 10 for majority of the races and giving Ford a significant early-season statement. The achievement was made even more special as it marked the first pole position for the famous #888 entry since Lowndes himself secured one back in 2018, adding another memorable chapter to the storied history of the number.
