About This Product:
The Holden Racing Team without doubt holds a special place in the heart of many red-blooded Australian motorsport fans.
From 1989 to 2016, HRT raced a variety of famous Commodores across Australia and on occasion, internationally. With the iconic Holden lion and helmet motif ever evolving and sprawling down the sides of their cars, they were the all conquering, unmistakable Holden factory team for a long time and boast a storied history.
2014 was the second year of racing the VF Commodore platform for the Holden Racing Team in what was Holden's 45th year of factory involvement in Australian motorsport, so their cars needed to reflect the prestigious nature of being the offical factory backed squad. And they did.
The striking day-glo red used in the livery and wheels worked in perfect unison with the white body and silver lion and helmet motif which was now featured on the front doors again. With Mobil 1 on the bonnet and stylised car numbers on the roof, the 2014 HRT livery was a real standout and sits among their best looks during this era.
At the Bathurst 1000 the #2 HRT Commodore boasted an impressive driver line up with (then) 3-time race winner Garth Tander and Warren Luff who had finished on the podium in 2012 and 2013 sharing the duties. Unfortunately however, this car will likely be best remembered for a massive crash suffered with Luff at the wheel during practice. Approaching turn 2, Luff’s brake pedal hit the floor which saw him collide with Craig Lowndes in front of him. Luff’s momentum sent the driver and car hard into the tyre barrier to flip onto its side and come to an abrupt halt in a notorious section of the track which has claimed many before and after. Ultimately the car was too damaged to salvage and resulted in a DNS for the Tander/Luff combo come race day.
The result aside, the 2014 HRT Bathurst 1000 VF Commodore really looked incredible, it's one of our favourites here at AC and this 1:43 scale model will be an another awesome addition for fans with collections featuring models from this historic team, The Great Race and drivers.
It has been produced in high quality sealed body die-cast with clear windows, detailed interior and will be presented in a display case with a printed base featuring the car details and an individually numbered backing board as the Certificate of Authenticity.
